His Story
Tracer was presented to Big Paws Canine Foundation at three months of age, and is the third dog donated by Dawn Helmic. Tracer stayed in Sioux Falls South Dakota when his brothers Artie and Jersey traveled to California for their training. Tracer is currently training and can be seen all over the Mid-West with a home base in Sioux Falls working with his trainer. Tracer has already done speaking engagements in the Mid-West with his trainer and excels with public events. Tracer will soon be starting his home trails with a Disabled Veteran in the South Dakota area.
Tracer will continue his training to assist his handler with mobility and PTSD concerns. Tracer is a fast learner and great student. Tracer has a great calming ability when he is doing his job. With little to no difficulty, Tracer has the ability to learn new tasks quickly.
A few months ago, Tracer’s recipient suffered a stroke and is now racing around town with the aid of a wheelchair and an enthusiastic racing partner … Tracer and Ricky are continuing their training with Big Paws in order to offer even more assistance to Ricky with the daily challenges of racing around in a wheelchair.

We hope this dog’s story has inspired you. If so, please make a donation and help him and other service dogs get the training they need to be a companion for our veterans!
