Sampson was adopted from the Mary S. Roberts Pet Adoption Center in Riverside, California at the age of two years old. Sampson was trained in the Southern California area and is currently working with a Disabled Veteran in the Long Beach Area. Sampson came to Big Paws with most of his obedience training completed. Sampson’s transition to becoming a Service Dog however still took time. Sampson’s past prior to the center is unclear.
It is suspected Sampson may have been abused due to some of his tendencies during his initial training. Now Sampson is successfully working with a Disabled Veteran who uses a wheel chair due to mobility difficulties, severe PTSD and TBI. With his handler recently receiving a wheelchair, Sampson is learning how to properly assist his handler with the use of the wheelchair and provides the emotional support his handler needs.
We hope this dog’s story has inspired you. If so, please make a donation and help him and other service dogs get the training they need to be a companion for our veterans!
